Join the Chorus

The Choral Arts Society of Frederick (CASF) is a volunteer organization open to those in the community who enjoy singing. Openings for the full year (September – May) concert season are available, particularly in the bass and soprano sections. New members are accepted into the chorus twice each season (September & January). Interested parties should contact Lynn Staininger, CASF Choral Director, by email to schedule an appointment to meet with her. Potential applicants should be prepared to sing. Skilled sight-readers are preferred as well as singers who have good vocal production.

Dues

Dues are $100 per semester. Dues must be paid by the third rehearsal unless other arrangements are made. Other financial responsibilities include purchasing music and proper concert attire.

FCC students taking CASF as a credit class do not have to pay dues, but are responsible for purchasing their music and concert attire. Music costs approximately $35 each semester.

Dues/music fees must be paid by cash or check during the first 2 rehearsals. At this time, we do NOT accept credit/debit cards. If you cannot pays your dues/music fees by the second rehearsal, submit a written statement to the Treasurer explaining your situation. We will work with you to make arrangements.

Rehearsals

Time: Rehearsals are held Tuesdays from 7:45 to 10:00 PM, with new sessions beginning in September and January of each year.

Location: Room 109, Arts & Student Center (Building F), Frederick Community College, Frederick, MD

Committees

By joining our organization, you undertake the commitment to perform in all major concerts and contribute to the support of CASF. This support may take the form of serving on committees, participating in fundraising activities, selling tickets to concerts, and attending all rehearsals and performing at all concerts. While participating in a committees is not mandatory, we encourage everyone to try at least one committee, with the understanding that there will be plenty of support from the other members of the choir and the officers.

Solicitation of advertisements for the concert programs Coordination of concert attire Organization of chorus social gatherings Coordination of ticket sales, ticket takers, and ushers Maintenance and distribution of membership roster Ordering, receipt, distribution of current music; maintenance of music library Design and preparation of concert programs, tickets, and posters Placement of CASF announcements and articles in the various news media Preparation, setup and takedown of sets; arrange technical support if required Creating and organizing fundraising projects and annual audit of CASF's books
