2014 Member Call
Choral Arts Society of Frederick Seeks New Members to celebrate its 70th season!
Do you love to sing? Are you an experienced choral singer? Do you have sight-reading skills? Can you survive an audition for placement? If your answers to these questions are “yes”, then the Choral Arts Society of Frederick would like to encourage you to call to arrange an audition to join its 50 plus member choral group for the Spring 2014 season.
The chorus will begin preparation on February 11 at 7:45 p.m. at Frederick Community College. Choral Director Lynn Staininger can be contacted at email@example.com for an audition time prior to the first rehearsal. Auditions are required before beginning rehearsal with the group. Potential singers should be prepared to sing a short selection of your choosing. Openings are available in all voice parts.
The Choral Arts Society of Frederick has been in existence since the l940s and is well known in the music community in Frederick County. CASF repertoire includes music from Bach to Broadway . The chorus also has a separate Doo-Wop Men’s group and a Women’s Choral Ensemble. The chorus is the resident choral group at Frederick Community College, and it includes both members from the community as well as FCC students. FCC students have the chance to sing with an established chorus and have the opportunity to sing choral works which are written for larger groups. CASF sings in a variety of venues with other groups in the region, and many opportunities to perform are available. The chorus is planning to perform a spring pops concert in May and is also planning several benefit concerts during the spring season as well.
Additional information about CASF is available on this website. The chorus practices on Tuesday evenings from 7:45 – 10:00 p.m. at Frederick Community College. CASF is supported in part by grants from the Frederick Arts Council and the Maryland State Arts Council. Additional fundraising takes place throughout the year to meet the costs of the organization.
