Carroll Howe, Accompanist

Carroll Howe is celebrating her 25th anniversary as Music Director/Organist at All Saints' Episcopal Church in historic downtown Frederick. She currently directs five choirs at All Saints': Adult Nave Choir, Junior Choir, Youth Choir, the All Saints' Handbell Choir, and the Genesis Ringers.

Mrs. Howe grew up on Staten Island in New York City and started singing in junior choir at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church at a young age. Years later she went on to receive her B.M. in Music Education with a minor in organ performance from Salem College in Winston Salem, NC, studying with John Mueller. After teaching public school music for 2 years on the eastern shore of Maryland, she left teaching and relocated to the Annapolis area to be near her family. She apprenticed herself to the organist and choir director of St. Anne's Episcopal Church, John Cooper, and began to develop a passion for Anglican church music. With the help of Mr. Cooper, she took her first choir/director position at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Linthicum, MD, and there was no turning back. She has been directing music in Episcopal churches for almost 30 years.

As a member of the Adult choir at St. Anne's, Mrs. Howe was fortunate to meet a very fine tenor, Stephen Howe, who would later become her husband and the father of her three wonderful and talented children, Emily, Zachary, and Samuel.

The Choral Arts Society of Frederick is a non-profit organization funded by grants, endowments, membership dues, fundraising drives, ticket sales, and tax-deductible gifts.
