This year the Choral Arts Society of Frederick celebrates its 73rd season. This vibrant group combines members of the community who love to perform choral music, and students from Frederick Community College, both music and general studies majors. The ages of members span from 18 to 70 plus, and allow for a true partnership of experience and enthusiasm. The choir performs all genres of music. They provide opera repertoire for the Maryland Concert Opera and the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, as well as keeping a thriving concert schedule on their home stage at Frederick Community College. In the last decade, the group has formed partnerships in performance with many local groups, both instrumental and vocal, to strengthen and support the presence of arts in the community.
The Choral Arts Society of Frederick is committed to the pursuit of excellence in choral repertoire and performance and to promoting and sharing the art of choral music through education and public outreach.
CASF is an enthusiastic group of around 50 men and women who enjoy choral singing who seek to foster an appreciation of the musical arts by offering musical productions to the community. Performances occur in the Fall and Spring and feature a broad spectrum of musical genres, from Bach to Broadway to Billy Joel. CASF has performed with the Frederick Symphony Orchestra, Maryland Symphony Orchestra, the Maryland Concert Opera, the Frederick Chorale, and Hood College Choir.
CASF welcomes college students and high school students over the age of 16. Students can register for “Choral Ensemble”, which is offered as a credit course through Frederick Community College.
As CASF offers the opportunity to study various vocal techniques and perform fine choral music to singers of all levels. New members are accepted into the chorus at the beginning of each semester (September and January). Come to a rehearsal and hear and feel for yourself the exhilaration received when you join the CHORAL ARTS SOCIETY OF FREDERICK!
